Over the next two years the federal
government will need to hire more than 250,000 new
employees. So says a new report "Tapping into
America's Potential: Expanding Student Employment and
Internship Opportunities in the Federal Government."
The federal government will be turning to college
students to help fill the ranks of this much needed
talent pool. Job opportunities include positions
ranging from homeland security to air traffic control,
to the Internal Revenue Service. Last year alone,
the federal government recruited more than 50,000
interns to work in hundreds of federal agencies across
the nation. Many of the positions focus on
offering interns permanent career track positions with
the federal government upon successful completion of an
internship.
