General Information for all Assignments:
Each of the eight numbered assignments is required. Each assignment is worth 25 points for a total of 200 points. Remember that these assignments together are worth 40% of your total course grade.
The due dates for these assignments will be announced in class.
You must use a word processor to complete these assignments.
The communication of research findings is critical to the successful execution of research. With this in mind, please recognize that your grade will be negatively affected by poor communication skills. (In other words, grammar, syntax, spelling, and style do count.) If there are five or more spelling and/or grammar errors in an assignment, I will return it to you ungraded. You can revise your assignment, but your revised paper will be graded as a "late" paper. (You will lose 5 points out of 25 points.)
Each of you will be asked to answer the Review Questions at the end of one of the chapters of Adventures in Social Research. Names will be drawn randomly each week to determine who is responsible for which chapter. (You can trade chapters with someone if you wish, but you must inform me of the trade in advance of turning in the answers to the review questions.) Answers to the review questions will be posted on the course web page so that everyone can benefit from them. You must give me a WORD file on a disk or send a WORD file as an e-mail attachment with your answers to these questions.
