Jonathan Truitt
Jonathan Truitt received his B.A. from Gustavus Adolphus College in 2000, his M.A. from Minnesota State University, Mankato in 2003, and his Ph.D. from Tulane University in 2009. Before joining the History Department at CMU in 2009, he taught as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Hamline University.
Research and Teaching Interests
Professor Truitt focuses on indigenous and European relations in colonial Mexico City. His primary research interests have surrounded the interactions between Nahua people of central Mexico and the Catholic Church during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. His other interests include the role of female leadership in the indigenous community, the adoption and adaptation of European music and theater, and the Moctezuma family in Mexico City.
