Benjamin Ramirez-shkwegnaabi
Benjamin Ramirez-shkwegnaabi's research centers on nineteenth-century Great Lakes Indian history. His specific areas of research include decision making and gender issues with respect to treaty negotiations in the Great Lakes area. He recently presented his research findings on Anishinaabe women's participation in treaty making at the Nokomis Learning Center in East Lansing, Michigan (March 2006). Professor Ramirez-shkwegnaabi also researches and teaches Ojibwe language classes. In this capacity, his research examines the intersection of Ojibwe language, history, and culture.
