Craig Ruff

Syllabi
Mr. Ruff was the first holder of the Robert and Marjorie
Griffin Endowed Chair. As the Chair his responsibilities
included teaching seminars in American government, leading public
policy forums, supervising development of a journal on politics, and
coordinating the collection of Michigan political documents.
Education
Mr. Ruff attended the University of Michigan, where he
earned a B.A. in political science, with honors, and a master's degree
in public policy.
Public Sector
Consultants, Inc.
Mr. Ruff is the President and Chief Executive Officer of
Public Sector Consultants in Lansing, Michigan. As the President
and CEO he oversees the finances with annual sales of $3
million. In addition to the finances, Mr. Ruff oversees 25
employees, numerous affiliated consultants, client relations,
subscription services, and research projects. He also serves as
senior consultant for many of the firm's clients; supervises management
of specific issues; advises on promotional, marketing, and advocacy
strategies; and writes and directs research studies.
Prior to becoming the President and CEO, Mr. Ruff served
Public Sector Consultants as Chief Operating Officer, Vice President and
Director of Health Care Division.
State of Michigan
Before joining Public Sector Consultants, Inc., Mr. Ruff
spent eleven years in Michigan's executive office. He first served
as the Special Assistant to the Governor for Human Services to Governor
William G. Milliken, and then as Executive Assistant to the Lieutenant
Governor James H. Brickley.
As the Special Assistant to the Governor, he served as a
liaison to the departments of Public Health, Mental Health, and Social
Services. Mr. Ruff also developed and coordinated programs and
policies, lobbied the legislature and resolved interdepartmental
conflicts.
While serving as the Executive Assistant to the
Lieutenant Governor, Mr. Ruff advised Lt. Gov. Brinkley on policy,
political, and program matters.
