FRN 430: French Culture Web Pages
In this one credit course, students explore a theme in French or Francophone culture while also learning about the Web and the creation of Web pages. At the beginning of the course, students choose a topic in French or Francophone culture or literature. Topics are suggested by the instructor; however, students are advised to select a theme that is both new and of interest to them for it will be the focus of the research, writing, and presentations they make in the course. Class sessions alternate between presentations by students on information they have found on their topic and will incorporate in their Web document, and lectures and hands-on experience on multimedia resources and the creation of a Web page. French Web vocabulary is an integral part of this course taught in French. Students are required to regularly turn in summaries of the presentations they make in class. In addition, the sources for their Web document are not to be only Web materials; they must include materials from the library as well. The project for the course will be presented as a World Wide Web document. It should include an introduction to the chosen topic, an annotated table of contents, scanned texts, pictures and a sound file.
