FLLC Assessment 2007-08

The Department assessed all seniors on the following two outcomes in French, German and Spanish:

1. Oral Proficiency

2. Cultural Understanding (after study abroad)

Criteria were met for both outcomes. It is worth noting that 100% of the seniors who studied abroad stated that the experience enhanced their respect for and understanding of other cultures.

In addition, alumni from the B.S. in Elementary or Secondary Education Degree Programs were given a post-graduate survey to evaluate the FL methods courses. Again, outcomes far exceeded criteria set, with over 90% evaluating the courses as extremely valuable.

Again, outcomes far exceeded criteria set, with over 90% evaluating the courses as extremely valuable. 2007-2008 Assessment Report for Spanish M.A. Program: The Spanish M.A. program assessed student ability to explain and apply linguistic differences (i.e., explain differences between English and Spanish with regard to pronunciation, and analyze the phonetic characteristics of a native speaker of Spanish). All criteria were met.
