Form to Decline Altiris Installation

What is Altiris?

In short, Altiris backup software scans your computer on a daily basis looking for only new and changed documents.  Altiris does not backup multimedia such as Pictures, Music, and Videos.  The initial "snapshot" will take up to 4 or 5 hours to scan and backup all non-multimedia documents on your drive.  Each day thereafter, Altiris will do a quick search for new and changed documents and will only back up these files, therefore, only taking about 5 to 10 minutes daily.  Only you and Altiris Administrators have access to these backups.  This software is highly recommended to protect data in the event of a hard drive failure.  A more detailed description of Altiris can be found here.  If you have further questions, please feel free to contact Tim Gramza at (989)774-1740 or Gary Lane at (989) 774-1229.

Beginning Fall 2006, we will be installing Altiris backup software on all faculty/staff computers.  If you would prefer not to have Altiris installed, please complete and submit the form below.

Please Note:  By rejecting the installation of Altiris, you are assuming full responsibility for backup of your own data.  Furthermore, you also assume responsibility for the costs associated with data recovery services provided by a third party.  Computer Support and the Dean's office will not provide funds for such services.
