Alumni Fund Award
Scholarship is awarded annually to three (3) incoming freshman students who
indicate a desire to major in one of the academic departments within
the College of Humanities and Social & Behavioral Sciences.

Incoming freshman
•
Minimum 3.4 high school GPA and ACT score of 25 or
higher
•
Must submit a two-page essay that lists qualifications
and intended major and
letter of recommendation from a high school teacher or counselor

Gabriel
Chien Memorial Scholarship
The Gabriel Chien Memorial
Fund was created to honor the memory of Gabriel Chien, a former
history professor in the College of Humanities and Social and
Behavioral Sciences. The award encourages students to look at the
world from a global and historical perspective, which was Dr.
Chien's lifelong commitment.
One scholarship
is awarded annually to a student who demonstrates an interest in
global and historical perspectives through a written essay.

an aspect of Chinese culture, Sino-American relations, or a comparative study of China

Preference to a student enrolled in a department within the College of
Humanities
and Social and Behavioral Sciences

Scholarship for Academic Excellence
Scholarship is awarded annually to one (1) incoming
freshman student who
plans to attend CMU and indicates a desire to major in one of the academic departments within
the College of Humanities and Social & Behavioral Sciences. The
scholarship is non-renewable.

The recipient will be a resident of Huron County or a student or graduate of a Huron County high school.

Must have a minimum 3.5 high school GPA and ACT
score of 26 or higher

Must submit one letter of recommendation from a high school teacher or counselor

an essay that describes the
discipline in CHSBS that you plan to major in and why and indicates why you believe you are deserving of this
scholarship (one to two pages in length).

Student Paper Competition
Students can submit
research papers, essays, creative works, theoretical papers or
reviews of research that were written for CHSBS classes at the 300
level and above during the 2006-2007 academic year. Students may
also submit papers that were presented at professional conferences.

Undergraduate winners receive $500

Warriner Scholarship
Several scholarships are awarded annually to undergraduate students
majoring in economics, English, foreign languages, history,
journalism, philosophy, political science, religion, speech or
sociology.
