As the director of development for the College of Humanities and Social and Behavioral Sciences, Lesa Smith works to enhance communication and build relationships with alumni and friends of the college’s eight academic departments: English, Foreign Languages, History, Military Science, Philosophy and Religion, Political Science, Psychology and Sociology, Anthropology and Social Work. Her goal is to increase private funding for the college and support for scholarships, faculty endowments, and enrichment programs. She engages volunteers, organizes special meetings and events, and writes articles for the college newsletter to raise awareness about the needs within the college.

In her role, Sarah Buckley facilitates relationships with alumni and donors by writing, editing and designing the CHSBS newsletter and organizing special events such as the Griffin forums and the CHSBS Homecoming reception. Through her work in the Dean's Office, she also updates the CHSBS Web site, manages the college's event notices, and designs marketing materials for the college.
