ASSIGNMENT:

1.  Look through at least two recent issues of each of the following journals in your language.
     Recent means after 1993.  All of them are available in the library.

SPANISH:  Hispania
GERMAN:  Die Unterrichtspraxis; The German Quarterly; Die Schatzkammer
FRENCH:  French Review; The Canadian Modern Language Review;
                    Français dans le monde
ALL  LANGUAGES:  Modern Journal; Foreign Language Alms; TESOL Quarterly

2.  Journal description.

As you look through these journals, consider the following questions.  Use them as a guide to write a brief description of four of the publications listed.

a.  What kinds of articles, reviews, or other items are included?  Write down some of the topics and read the abstracts.
 
b.  What appears to be the target audience of each journal?

c.  Do you have to join a particular organization to receive the journal?  If so, which organization?  How much would the membership cost you as a student?
 
d.  Does the journal carry advertising?  How much?  In your opinion, is it useful?  Why?

e.  Which of these journals would probably be most helpful to you at this point in your career?  Why do you think so?
