MICRO-TEACHING EXPERIENCES
1. Choose one chapter from the text you have sleeked for Micro Teach 1 and 2. (One preparation will be for a first -year class and at least one other for a second year class.)
2. For each experience, you will first turn in a written plan. A week later you will do the micro teach. That will be followed by a written self-evaluation after watching yourself on video.
a. Written Plan.
Prepare and hand in a written lesson plan that would permit someone else to do essentially the same thing you were planning to do. Instructions should be written out for each activity and the complete set of questions, sentences, etc. (excluding materials in the textbook) should be included. Keep a copy for yourself and turn in one copy on the assigned dates.
Be sure to address each of the following points in the written lesson plan:
| Indicate the level of the class. Mention the skills and prerequisite knowledge that you assume students have up to this point. | |
| Provide instructional objectives for each activity. What are students supposed to be able to do? What is the purpose of each activity? | |
| List the materials you will need and include copies. (Make sure that visual and overhead transparencies are large enough for everyone to see.) |
| Include a timetable to show estimated time for an activity.
|
b. Micro-teach.
Before each micro-teach, you will be given the evaluation sheet listing the criteria to be included.
c. Self-Evaluation.
For selected micro teaches, you will need to view the video of your teaching experience and write a page-long evaluation including things you did well and things you would like to change or improve. Be specific. Be sure to include whether or not you met your stated objectives and if not, why not and what could have been done to meet them.
3. Evaluation.
a. You will be evaluated on how well your plan is organized and how well you implement your written lesson plan. Your usage of French/German/ or Spanish will also be included.
b. Your written work must be neatly typed and carefully proofread.
c. All micro-teaching sessions must conform to the time limits and guidelines given.
