Current research activities:  Gender socialization in children's literature (Pippi Longstocking); weekend gardens in European countries, and their contribution to non-material aspects of social welfare; survey of inductive/deductive approaches in economics literature; role of mathematics in feminist scholarship; using the world values survey to teach about globalization.

Additional research interests:  Minimum wage issues, including studies of living wages in Michigan; human poverty, especially in relation to globalization; the changing gender wage gap for sex-segregated occupations.
