LITERARY DIMENSIONS OF FILM JOURNAL
A Note to Journal Keepers

The Lit/Film Journal requires that you write eighteen (18) journal entries assigned for class, each of them completed before the specific class session as a means of preparing for discussion, and that you write seven (7) more self-generated entries responding to the films, books, and adaptations you encounter on your own during the semester.  Entries might focus on books you have read or are reading which you analyze much as we analyze novels and plays in class or which you imagine being made into films; they might focus on films you have seen which have been adapted from books you are familiar with, analyzing them as adaptations; they might focus on films you have seen which you analyze in ways we have analyzed films in class.  It may be prudent at this time to suggest that in a fifteen week course the self-generated portion of the journal requirement could be easily completed by writing one self-generated journal entry every other week.

Note:  Because journals are meant to be kept as preparation for class discussion and should have been completed incrementally over the semester, no late journals will be accepted past the due date on the last class day of the semester.
