| J. Cherie Strachan is a new tenure track faculty member from the State University of New York at Albany. She is the author of High-Tech Grass Roots, which is the only work to systematically explore the use and effects of sophisticated campaign practices in local politics. Conducting research for this book stimulated her concern for political participation in the United States. Her current research projects, which explore the effects of different civic education messages on young people and political culture’s impact on the construction of citizenship in gubernatorial campaign and inaugural rhetoric, continue to address the way communication patterns affect average citizens’ abilities to participate in the political process. | |||
