 Rick S. Kurtz joined the political science department in 1999, after several years of government service.  After serving for three years as the department internship director, he assumed the position of Master of Public Administration program director.  Kurtz teaches courses on public administration, organizational management, state and local government and environmental politics and policy.  Current research focuses on marine pollution and spill mitigation.  Kurtz is also serving as principal investigator for the Gateway Community Economic Development Project:  http://www.chsbs.cmich.edu/Political_Science/gateways/.
