Foreign Language Day

Foreign Language Day is a Central Michigan University tradition dating back more than a quarter century.  The Department of Foreign Languages, Literatures and Cultures sponsors the annual event for high school students and teachers of French, German, Spanish, and "non-traditional" languages offered by Michigan schools.

The next Foreign Language Day competition will be
Friday, April 25, 2008.

Talent competitions include skits, songs, dances, poetry, interpretive readings, displays, and posters.  Students also view foreign language classes and displays, have the opportunity to purchase CMU merchandise, as well as tour the CMU campus in general and the Foreign Language Department facilities in particular.

Information packets and registration materials are available on this site (see list at right) or by contacting the department at (989) 774-3786 or by FAX at (989) 774-2323.  Deadline for applications will be April 4.

Due to high springtime demand generated by athletic events and other field trips, it is recommended that buses be reserved as soon as possible.  Note that all student participants need to bring along a completed parental Consent Form/Medical History in case they need treatment while here.

For Your Convenience:

  • Lunch in the residential restaurants will be available at a cost of $2 each.
  • Time-slots for all competitions must be reserved in advance.
