Fechner Day 2005 October 19-22
Traverse City, Michigan,
USA | |
Guidelines for
Proceedings
Deadline for the
submission of manuscripts: August 12th, 2005
Preparation of
Manuscripts
Please observe that the proceedings will contain 6 page articles including
brief abstracts (150 words). No single abstracts will be accepted. If 6 pages is
too much for your article, we will accept 4 pages.
Five page articles are to be avoided because they necessitate a blank page. There is a manuscript example in doc-format, rtf-format and
pdf-format.
If there is a
problem downloading just by clicking the links, try to right-click and choose
Download to disk, Save As... or similar command (Windows). Mac users may have to
control-click the link to get a menu where you can choose a download command,
e.g. Download Link (Netscape). You may also have to open the downloaded document
from within the word processor.
- The manuscripts
have to be submitted in English, fully formatted with tables, figures and
references included in the text.
Do not number pages. The maximum
manuscript length for either a paper or a poster is 6 pages (see
above).
- You can submit
papers in A4 (21 x 29.7 cm) or American letter size (8 1/2 x 11 inches) paper
format . The text
area of your document should, however, always be 15.7 x 24.2 cm (6.179 x 9.525
inches).
If you submit in A4 format: Set margins of 2.65 cm (1.043
inches) on all sides. Use the Times New Roman font, size 11. Consider that
graphics will be reduced in size to about 83% compared to standard printing.
Therefore: Do not use thin lines or small fonts in graphs.
- Type up to about 55
lines per page. Use single-spacing.
For uniformity of documents, justify left
and right edges.
- Style guidelines
(adapted from the ones of Fechner Day 01):
Title: Title should
be typed in capital letters (font size 12), bold type, and centered at the top
of the first page, one line below the top margin.
Authors,
affiliations and e-mail addresses: Type name of the author(s) in upper
and lowercase letters, centered one line below the title. Center the
affiliation(s) and e-mail address(es) on the next
line(s).
Abstract: Place Abstract heading centered with margins
of 3.65 cm (1.437 inches) and two lines below the affiliation of the last
author. The text of the abstract should begin one line below the
heading.
Headings: Should be centered on the page written in
bold type. A main heading should be preceded by one line, except for the
Abstract heading, and followed by one line. Side headings should be preceded by
one line and also followed by one. Use plain italic typeface for side headings
and place them to the left.
Main text: Start the main text two
lines below the abstract. Do not use the Introduction heading! Adjust left and
right edges.
References: The References heading should be
treated as a main heading according to the typing instructions above. References
to unpublished material are not allowed.
Tables and
Figures: Should be placed at top of page or at bottom of page. Table
title should be placed above the table. Start the text two lines below the
table. Use copy-ready figures with a figure caption under each figure. The
text should start two lines below the figure
caption.
Equations: Should start 1 cm (0.394 inches) from left
margin and should be given a number within parenthesis at the right margin.
Separate them from the text by one line above and one line below. Check indexes
and exponents for readability when reduced in
size.
Footnotes: Avoid footnotes. If unavoidable, place one
footnote at the end of the reference list.
Submission of
Manuscripts
To avoid problems
and ensure a good quality of the abstract volume we would like you to submit
your contribution threefold:
- Send a high-quality
printed copy of the document, pages numbered on their back to:
John
Monahan FD2005 Department of Psychology Central Michigan
University Mt. Pleasant, MI 49959 USA
- Please send the
original document in editable format (as you processed it) via email to us in
whatever program you have used as well as in a Word-convertible-file and/or a
.rtf-file. (We will, if necessary, try to find a way to correct minor
mistakes.)
In case you have separate graphics files, please send them
also.
- Send us a file via
email a Postscript file or a PDF file.
Postscript files can be generated
on any platform if the appropriate drivers are installed. The PDF file should
be publication quality.
Email to FD2005@cmich.edu
Send
author(s), title and abstract in the body of the message.
Use
subject: ISPmanuscript. Give your file a name beginning with authors’
initials. Attach the file(s) to the message.
Checking of
Documents
Check graphics,
formulas and rare symbols for proper printing. If possible print the Postscript
and/or PDF file and do the checking again.
We are looking
forward to receiving your submission.
