Student Success

Each year, the English Department assesses aspects of its nine degree programs to ensure that students are mastering the skills they will need upon graduation. Here are some highlights from the 2005-06 academic year:

B.S. in Education

Of the 66 CMU elementary and secondary English majors and minors who took the MTTC exam last year, 94% passed. This compares to a statewide pass rate of 87%.

ESL Minor

CMU had only one student take the MTTC exam last year in this category, and that student excelled, passing with a score of 278, while the statewide average score was only 250.
